I think most serious bird hunters and dog lovers hope, someday, to encounter a dog that so matches their own style in the field and is so compatible with their family at home that they can say with certainty that they have found their breed. With my first Pudelpointer puppy, I found mine.
Over the course of 30 years, and a breeding program that involved 11 pudels and 80 pointers, the Pudelpointer emerged. Its unique wirehaired, chocolate-brown appearance holds more resemblance to a Wookie than to today’s fluffy show poodle or to the shorthaired, mostly white English pointer. In fact, they look far more similar to the much more common German wirehaired pointer or Drahthaar, a later versatile breed that was developed, in part, by crossing Pudelpointer bloodlines with German shorthaired pointers. But there are two big differences—Pudelpointers don’t shed, and they are known to be much calmer around children indoors than most other versatile breeds, displaying what some owners call it their off switch. It was these two traits that convinced my wife and I to seek out our Ginger. Ginger has lived up to all the hype that this breed brings, incredibly easy to train, a desire to hunt that truly has no equal, tough, athletic and yet so sweet that when she looks you in the eyes it as if she is looking into your soul. The pudelpointer is one of very few gun dog breeds today that is still exclusively owned by hunting families, since there are no show or pet lines, and any recognition of the breed by the American Kennel Club, which could lead to nonhunting lines, has been carefully avoided by owners and breeders alike. Give me a call and we can talk more about Ginger and together see if a Pudelpointer puppy is right for you
"In 1881, a German breeder, Baron von Zedlitz, worked on producing his ideal tracking, pointing, and retrieving gun dog, suitable for work on both land and water. From seven specific Poodles and nearly 100 different pointers, he developed the Pudelpointer. The original sire was Tell, an English Pointer belonging to Kaiser Frederick III and the original dam was a German hunting pudel named Molly who was owned by Hegewald, an author known for works on hunting dogs.
The goal was to produce a dog that was willing and easy to train, intelligent, and loved water and retrieving, like the poodle, and add to that a great desire to hunt, a strong pointing instinct, and an excellent nose, like in the English Pointer, as well as being an excellent companion in the home.
The breed was introduced to North America in 1956 by Bodo Winterhelt, who to this day, remains very involved in maintaining the breed standard. His Winterhelle Kennel was the foundation of the breed in North America. In 1977 Winterhelt founded the Pudelpointer Club of North America in Canada."

Tails will be docked at 1/3 of the tail between 3 – 5 days after birth. Dew claws are removed at the same time.
Our puppies will make regular visits to the vet to ensure good health as well as receiving their shots. Puppies receive shots based on the age of each puppy. Between ages 6 weeks - 17 weeks, puppies receive core vaccines (DHLPP). Rabies vaccination will be giving to puppies that are at least 14 weeks of age. All puppies will be dewormed.
Puppies can go to their new homes as early as 6 weeks. This gives the puppy time spent with the mother and the rest of the litter. Doing this starts the foundation for the puppies’ social skills as well as learning life skills from the mother.
We recommend picking up your new Pudelpointer in person, however we realize that is not always feasible. Therefore we offer recommendations for both plane and ground transporters. Contact us so that we can discuss this further and get an estimate.
Our Pudelpointer puppies are adopted quickly, so reach out today to talk with Tracy about your future hunting partner.
